Kangra Paintings On Love

Description This informative books highlights the main characteristics and specimen paintings done by artists in the Kangra Valley at Guler, Nurpur, Tira-Sujanpur, Almpur and Nadaun during the reign of Maharaja Sansar Chand as well as paintings from Garhwal, Chamba, Jammu, Mandi, Suket and Bilaspur. These paintings are known as paintings of the Kangra Art as a common theme and spirit runs through these. These are also distinctly different from its predecessors - The Mughal paintings. Each specimen is accompanied by a written illustration and explanation from a matching poem translated from the works of Hindi poet Keshav Das's "Rasika priya". Majority of the paintings are on love and various passions of body and soul, especially of woman towards man. The book is a treasure drove of knowledge for art lovers. Each painting portrays a distinct mood and passion and matching scene from nature consisting of birds, trees, shrubs and climbers.
