The Sikh Struggle

Description This book makes an objective study of Sikh struggle in India from its origin to the 1990s. Written from a wider historical perspective, it links the past with the present Sikh struggle. The authors believe that the late twentieth century violent Sikh struggle and slogan of Khalistan are logical results of frustration of legitimate Sikh aspirations as a community and a religious minority. The most impressive is the account of acts of state terrorism through the indiscriminate killings of both militant and innocent Sikhs in 1984 and a few years after. They squarely blame the congress party for mass killing of Sikhs during military action at the Golden Temple and Delhi riots in 1984. The study is based on accounts of eye-witnesses of violence, enlightened secular citizens and families of victims. The expression is highly refined and fluent and impressive.[edit]
