Bharthari Darshan, Bhag 3, Vairag Shatak

Description This Punjabi translation of the ancient Sanskrit poetic text written by an ancient Indian poet and king deals with human psychology and human urge for spiritual emancipation. As the title suggests, the royal poet educates us about the human weakness of falling a victim to him a desires, especially the sensual lust and the ways and means to liberate the human heart and mind from the grip of these vices. His methods are practice of Yoga, meditation and escape from the material world. However, the translator has added his own comments after each couplet's translation to compare the author's philosophy to that of the philosophy of Sikh Gurus as enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib. This critical analysis makes this work more than a work of translation.[edit]
