A Nation Betrayed
|
Description |
India's simultaneous independence and partition in 1947 was the result of a fundamental difference between Hinduism and Islam and the Muslim Community's distrust of the Hindu Majority community. During the formation of the interim government and constituent assembly based on the recommendations of the Cabinet Mission in 1946, the Muslims declared their opposition through their spokesman Mr. Jinnah and Indian Muslim league to the idea of a united India. It is these fears and suspicious of the Muslims against the designs and intentions of the Hindus which form the subject matter of this book. Calling the Muslims a nation because of their distinct religion, history and culture which is at complete variance with the Hindus, the author terms the idea of united India a betrayal of the Muslims. Though not completely without merit, his views are biased, sectarian and based on apprehensions about the future[edit]
