Stupid Sikhs
|
Description |
This booklet contains the contents of a lecture delivered by Bhai Sahib Sirdar Kapur Singh, National Professor of Sikhism in the Thompson School Auditorium at Vancouver B. C. on October 7, 1974. After tracing the whole history of Sikh religion and the Sikhs, the author highlights the betrayal of the Sikhs by the Indian National Congress and the Indian State as they refused to honour any commitments made to the Sikhs before India's independence and partition. He also blames the Sikhs for trusting the Hindus and for being "stupid" in having rejected the British offer of an independent state for the Sikhs. The sense of Sikh bitterness and having been betrayed is conveyed through the refusal of Sikh representatives of the National Constituent Assembly to sign on the final draft of India's constitution prepared in 1950.[edit]
