Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Description This collection of articles by different scholars on the life, achievements and his personal lapses which resulted in the downfall of the Sikh empire after his death was published on the first Death Anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The articles highlight the different facets of his personality both positive and negative and make a fair assessment of his character both as a man and as a Sikh monarch. While his bravery, dynamic leadership and diplomacy are his assets, his neglect and rejection of the democratic principle of Guru Panth and relying on the mercenary advisors are his tragic flaws. The results of his lapses have been disastrous. The tract is a good chronicle of its times. [edit]
