Description |
Nirmalas are a sub-sect of Sikhism. There are further several Sub-sects among Nirmalas also. Their origin goes back to the five Sikh scholars during Guru Gobind Singh's period. These five Sikhs were sent to Kashi (Benaras) for learning Sanskrit and study the ancient Sanskrit classics. After their return, they set up their own independent seminaries for preaching and propagating Sikh philosophy. Their main headquarters is at Kankhal (Haridwar). They have made a significant contribution to the preaching of Sikhism, but they have also injected Vedic philosophy into Sikhism. The book, a collection of papers presented at a seminar at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, highlights the origin, background, contribution to Sikhism of Nirmalas and their mode of preaching by several scholars.[edit]
