Title Unhappy India
Description This book written by one of the leading Indian freedom fighters and martyrs brings out the oppressive, exploitative and degrading effects of the British Colonial rule in India. The title is suggestive of the agony and suffering of the Indian masses under the foreign yoke. Besides expressing the extent of British exploitation of India and its people, the author express his views on India's culture, status of women in Indian society, western education, caste system in India, and marks an impassioned plea to the British rulers to liberate India from their colonial dominance. The author has based his observations on facts of history and western concepts of liberty and equality as practised by the Americans and Britishers in their own countries. It is a strong rebuttal of the work of an English lady Miss Maya's book about the British rule in India.
