F. Scott Fitzgerald has said, "Don't forget who you are and where you come from." Forgetting is a human tendency and we tend to take for granted what we get in inheritance. We seldom feel to inculcate in ourselves what comes down to us from our forefathers. This has happened more to us in terms of our cultural heritage than in those of anything else. Visit any old monument in Panjab, and you will be shocked to see its condition. Visit an old library and see how the rarest of the rare pieces of heritage are shedding tears at our inconsiderate attitude of neglect towards them. If the roots are forgotten, however green and fruitful the branches may seem, one day, they dry up and the blossoming flower of a rich culture withers away. The green richness and fruitful abundance that we still feel about our cultural heritage is because of the hard work and farsightedness of our forefathers. Now it is our responsibility to keep it green and flourishing in the times to come.
Panjab Digital Library (PDL) has dreamt of preserving the heritage through digitization and to keep this tree of legacy blooming and PDL also dreams of adding everyone interested in this endeavour of saving the heritage of Panjab. Spread the word, widen the chain, join us to save what remains.
